" ... I can
assure you that Delusion have delivered a sensational CD. They
play melodic Progressive Metal in the 80's Queensryche and Fates
Warning region. This is high quality stuff definitiely , with
awesome high pitched vocals by singer Walt Downey and a lot of
excellent memorable songs ....The sound is big and the included
eleven songs are all sensational .... Songs are mostly straight-ahead
with catchy hooks and memorable chorus , and of course the wonderful
lead vocals of Walt Downey (he is a true discovery , one of the
best newcomers I can assure you we will hear more of in the future.
Highlights are "My Child" (SUPERB !!!) , "In My
Life" , "Feel This Way" , "Beyond The Door"
, and "Falling" (AORish , Triumph oriented) .... I
can only say to you that you should get a copy A.S.A.P. of this
Delusion because it is a MUST HAVE ! " --- Rating : 9

" When I popped
in 'The Tragedy Of Regret' I had to check to see if I didn't
accidentally put on an Iron Maiden record. Good old-fashioned
Progressive Metal with high pitched vocals, galloping bass and
complex riffs, you know
proper metal. Formed back in 1995
by guitarist Phil Carnes, Delusion have been playing metal for
nearly a decade and were even featured on "Children of the
Damned : A Tribute To Iron Maiden" album in 1999 covering
the classic "22 Acacia Avenue". Delusion have all the
hallmarks of technically gifted musicians, take for example the
powerful 'In My Life' with an impressive vocal performance by
Walt Downey that is as close to Bruce Dickinson as one can get.
It's a very difficult balancing act to pull off a successful
progressive metal album, that Delusion fall the right side of
successful; the chord structures are complex but not over-cooked
in self-indulgent territory, the energy is tight but not too
bludgeoning to roughen the subtleties and the vocals are ball-clenching
but not entering self-parody. Fifth track 'Thu The Night' takes
the pace down a notch with murky guitar picking and an understated
vocal performance by Walt Downey backed up by Sam Kirkendall's
bass lines that compliments Phil Carnes fiery guitar, all underpinned
by Doug Readmond's steady drum beat. The consistent standard
continues throughout, even incorporating keyboard textures to
many songs, 'Beyond The Door' starts off slow and broody, finally
unleashing a burning solo as the track's title "Beyond the
doooor, Beyond the doooor" is sang until track end. Even
the potentially cheesy lyric of "I'm falling, I can't help
falling, I can't help falling in love with you" on the track
'Falling' is pulled off without descending into cliché.
Lead by a charismatic singer and a backed by a batch of professional
musicians, Delusion excel in their metal niche, and would appeal
to anyone who plays air guitar to Iron Maiden.

" DELUSION
- THE TRAGEDY OF REGRETS (11 song CD) RAVENHURST RECORDS
DELUSION have released their debut CD filled with lots of Rock/Metal
music. They do have a strong bases in the Metal area, but they
toss in lots of elements of Rock, Power Metal & Progressive
Metal as well. There is lots of mood, melody, emotion, depth
& stregnth in their songs. They have a driving Rock sound
with lots of Power & Progressive Metal all intwertwind within.
The vocals are done in an epic Metal type style. All fans of
DIO, SANCTUARY, DREAM THEATER, QUEENSRYCHE & FATES WARNING
will dig these guys!!!"

" Baltimore
is a town in Maryland, Usa. I thought: "mmmh, when I heard
of this place before ??". Oh yeah, Sonus Umbra and Iluvatar
come from there. Well, Phil Carnes (guitars/keys) and his Delusion
come from Baltimore, too, but they play a different kind of music.
Listening to "The Tragedy Of Regret" under Ravenhurst
label, I realized they absolutely don't care to be in fashion
because this album exactly sounds like Queensryche and Iron Maiden
sounded in the eighties. They play a melodic heavy metal with
tons of guitar riffs and speed rhythms. They also included keyboards
and that's the only different between them and the aforementioned
bands. "I'll Fly " and "My Child" are really
good tracks where power and good arrangments are well balanced.
The singer is not Geoff Tate but Walt Downey, even if Mother
Nature gave him as a gift a wonderful voice (strong, melodic
and high noted) just very close to Geoff's one. Please listen
to "Thru The Night" and you won't believe to your ears
! The album is not bad in its entirety, very good for the old-fashioned
heavy metal fans, recommended to the Queensryche and Iron Maiden
lovers.
