Band Biography

Delusion was formed in September of 1995 by Phil Carnes , who embarked on a journey to recruit a handful of great musicians to record an album of rock and metal songs he had written. In October of 1995 , after comprehensive trademark searches , Delusion was born and the official website was launched on the internet. With a few demo samples on the website the band thus began what would become a modest worldwide fanbase. Delusion has strangely become an almost a cult-like sensation leading to overwhelming internet support , a record contract , distribution , endorsements , songs on the internet charts , and much more ..... Delusion credits a great deal of its exposure to its inclusion on The Iron Maiden Tribute album released on Energi/Adrenaline Records in Italy and the annual Powermad Festival that was held in Maryland from 1997-2001. Delusion's new eleven song album , The Tragedy of Regrets , was completed in 2003 and will be released on 11-28-03.

Phil Carnes - guitars , keys

Phil Carnes has been a songwriter and a performing artist since 1984. He was guitarist in a local band called Mourning Star , which was the band of now producer/engineer Drew Mazurek. He later founded the grindcore band Desolate Angel in 1988 and has taken that band through two demos and three album releases. At the conclusion of the last Desolate Angel tour in 1995 , Phil channelled his efforts into the creation of Delusion and began writing songs for an album. In 1998 , Delusion's music began appearing on various compilation and tribute cds released around the world. As a result Phil received a worldwide endorsement with Seymour Duncan pickups for his work as guitarist and songwriter for Delusion.

Doug Readmond - drums

Doug Readmond was the drummer for the Baltimore-band Infectious when he first met Phil Carnes and was asked to be apart of the Delusion project. Doug's background included a history with death-metal style music at this time which made him a diverse choice for drummer in the Delusion progressive rock/metal style. It was pure instinct to want Doug as drummer and this instinct payed off as he opened up his style and delivered an impressive drum style for Delusion. Following Doug's history in Infectious he went on to become the drummer for 20 on the Hype and continues to pursue his musical interests in addition to Delusion with his latest music group called 410.

Sam Kirkendall - bass

Sam Kirkendall has been around music for nearly two decades. He first met Phil Carnes in the local band Mourning Star when he became singer for that band in 1984. Sam played bass in the band Desolate Angel for a brief time and he has most recently been singing for the new Maryland band Hard Nugget. His experience with bass guitars had led him to become involved with Delusion in 2003. He has since assisted in the completion of the bands studio recordings for the album The Tragedy of Regret and appears in the bands first music video.

Walt Downey - lead vocals

Walt Downey is the singer for Baltimore band Surreal. Surreal is well established in the Maryland area as a successful classic rock / top 40 cover band. Walt joined Delusion in 1998 and added his vocal style of power and range to the Delusion sound. Walt has been performing in Baltimore for over a decade performing in metal bands such as Armed and Ready , Poor Man's Opera , and Surreal. Walt was excited to become a part of Delusion despite joining the band at a point where he was basically handed vocals lines to record. We expect the future of Delusion to be even better as Walt takes vocal control and the band channels their true focus into the bands second album.
